KOALA

REMEMBER TO SAVE OFTEN

I made this tutorial with PSP7 and KPT5
But we can also use Eye Candy for a nice result (Thanks Carolyn for the idea)

1. Open 400x450 transparant background.....add new layer, call it body
2. set your Foreground colour to #7f7f73 and your Background colour to #cdcac4
Set your Background to Foreground/Background gradient ...( see image below)

3. Preset shapes set to Ellipse, Antialias and Vector checked, linewidth 1
Draw an ellipse for the body....
Go to object selector and node edit....shape the body like image below

Now we are getting a few steps we repeat throughout the whole tutorial

4. Convert layer to raster
5. Select all....select float
6. Effects....Noise....Add 5 uniform
7. Add a new layer
8. Effects...3D cutout (see image below)...Deselect
9. Turn off visibility of background layer and merge visible
rename layer to bodylayer
10. Add a new layer call it head

11. Preset shapes set to Ellipse, Antialias and Vector checked, linewidth 1
Draw an ellipse for the head....
Go to object selector and node edit....shape the head like image below

We go through these steps again

4. Convert layer to raster
5. Select all....select float
6. Effects....Noise....Add 5 uniform
7. Add a new layer
8. Effects...3D cutout .....same settings...Deselect
9. Turn off visibility of background and body layer and merge visible
rename layer to headlayer
10. Add a new layer call it arm

12. Preset shapes set to Ellipse, Antialias and Vector checked, linewidth 1
Draw a small ellipse for the arm....
Go to object selector and node edit....shape the arm like image below

Next we have our familiar steps again...

4. Convert layer to raster
5. Select all....select float
6. Effects....Noise....Add 5 uniform
7. Add a new layer
8. Effects...3D cutout ...Opacity to 40 - Blur to 25.....Deselect
9. Turn off visibility of background body and head layer and merge visible
rename layer to armlayer
10. Add a new layer call it ear

13. set your Foreground colour to #939386 and your Background colour to #f3f3f3
Set your Background to gradient ...
14. Preset shapes set to Ellipse, Antialias and Vector checked, linewidth 1
Draw a small ellipse for the ear....
Go to object selector and node edit....shape the ear like image below

We are going to repeat the next steps again

4. Convert layer to raster
5. Select all....select float
6. Effects....Noise....Add 5 uniform
7. Add a new layer
8. Effects...3D cutout ...same setting we used for the arm.....Deselect
9. Turn off visibility of background body head and arm layer and merge visible
rename layer to ear layer

15. We are going to duplicate the ear layer
Drag the duplicate layer below the head layer and mirror

We now should have something like this

16. Add another layer
Set your Background color to black and draw the facials
Use separate layers for everything so you can still move everything around

You can merge the facials if you like but don't merge the other layers yet
Because this is where KPT5/Eye Candy comes in...
I hope you saved your work at this point though !!

17. Go to body layer....select....float
18. Effects...plugins....KPT5....Fiberoptix

Settings
We only temper with Fiber Controls and Noise for now ...:))

Fiber Density 100%
Fiber Length 0%
Fiber Tapering 50%
Fiber Flatness 99%
Angle 0%
Direction Intensity 0%
Noise 0%

19. Do the same with all body parts...only for the ears change the noise to -50%

18a If you want to use Eye Candy
Use one of the following settings and see which one works best for you....(see images below )
Don't select your bodyparts....just go to each separate layer and use your Eye Candy

20. We are going to duplicate the arm layer
Drag the copy of the arm layer below the body layer and use the deformation tool to turn it upwards just a little

21. Go to your head layer ..add another layer....take your airbrush
Lets give the little one a blush
I used color #7c5544
Size Opacity Density set to 10....Step to 15...Hardness to 0
Spray some blush....give it some Gaussian Blur

22. Go to the ear layers and spray some extra white on the ears near the head....
Merge all layers visible unless you want to give the little fella a bunch of flowers like I did...you have to do that before merging
Resize about 50%...(I think he looks cuter being a little smaller..:))
We're done...You did it .....:))

I hope you had as much fun as I had drawing this little man..:))

I hope you enjoyed doing this tutorial
